There are many different types of camera shots
that are used in horror trailer.
A long shot is popular especially in
supernatural/possession film; they are used to expose the location/settings. These
settings are usually in isolated locations which makes it more scary because
there will be no source of safety for them. For example in the conjuring the
family house is surrounded by trees and pushes so there will be way of quick
safety is anything happens. This a convention of supernatural/possession films.
Medium shot are used to show props and costumes. This
allows the audience to identity the natural habitat of the characters, along
with the era that the film is set in so that it will be relevant.
Close are also very common because it allows the audience to see the characters facial expressions, giving a more dramatic feeling to the scene. Within trailer they are used often during montages and stabs at the end.
